CUSTOMER SERVICE REP: CQ Press has an immediate opening for an experienced customer service representative. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to provide timely, accurate and courteous service to the CQ Press customer base, which includes bookstores, libraries, government agencies, colleges and universities, private individuals and internal staff members and to enter orders. This is a high energy and very demanding customer service position with daily/weekly/monthly deadlines and strict schedules. Successful candidates for this position should have a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar position preferably in a busy call center environment. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate superior computer proficiency (Word, Excel) and be detail oriented, possess strong communication, organization skills, time management and exceptional inter-personal skills. NATIONAL SALES MANAGER: CQ Press’ NSM is responsible for sales strategy and planning, achieving revenue goals, and increasing market share in North America for Reference products sold directly into libraries and other Reference markets. Field sales represents a portion of overall division sales and will occur alongside in-house and print sales efforts, partner sales, and online sales, which will be managed separately.

The NSM will lead, develop, and motivate the sales team in accordance with the high standards for which the Press is known. S/he will encourage commitment and create an environment that empowers staff to achieve objectives and to perform in a way that advances the company’s goals, values, and mission. As a key member of the Reference Division’s management team, the NSM works closely with the director, editorial, and marketing and to a lesser extent with other departments, to maintain our superior reputation with clients; to ensure outstanding author-publisher relations; to provide critical feedback on products, competitive strategies, and the market; and to exploit new business opportunities. BA/BS degree required; 3+ years’ successful sales management experience within the library market or equivalent. Outstanding sales, analytic, organizational, and interpersonal skills required. PRINT AND DESIGN BUYER:  CQ Press seeks an individual to be responsible for purchasing printing services for CQ Press print publications and design services for cover and text interior designs. This includes managing all aspects of printing of and design work for all books, directories, and a weekly publication; preparing and monitoring of print and creative budgets; working with vendors to meet CQ Press schedules; releasing completed titles to warehouse; administering reprint cycle; monitoring quality; purchasing print and creative services; and analyzing print and creative costs for financial reporting. 

Experience Required:
*       At least two years experience as a book print buyer or printing sales rep.  In addition, one to three additional years of related experience as a print buyer or sales rep and/or as an art designer in book publishing.
*       Knowledge of and experience with (minimum one year) budgeting and tracking costs
*       Knowledge of and experience with (minimum one year) of project management
*       Employment or comparable experience in which artistic evaluation is required
*       Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience

Specific Responsibilities
*       Solicits competitive bids from vendors; reviews project requirements and prepares specifications; develops schedules; communicates CQ Press expectations to vendors; advises editorial and production staff on vendor requirements for printing; monitors quality; reviews and reconciles final invoices. Vendor liaison for all print projects in development. Advises editors and production staff on vendor requirements for printing. Purchasing authority for approx. $1.8 million per year.
*       Manages publication reprint cycle and print-on-demand.
*       Commissions cover and text designs, manages review of creative materials. 
*       Prepares and monitors print and creative budgets, generates monthly financial report on publications in production. Analyzes print costs and provides information for financial reporting,
*       Prepares purchase orders, coordinates deliveries, receives inventory, releases backorders and publication standing orders, and enters new titles in Vista Inventory Management system.
*       Facilitates coordination with electronic publishing branch of company.
*       Liaison with CQ Researcher printer for pricing and scheduling, runs weekly mailing labels thru Vista, receives inventory, releases backorders, orders reprints. 
*       Guides Green Presss Initiative publishing efforts.
*       Works on own initiative under general direction of Director, OPD/IT/Production; does not require day-to-day supervision.

PROGRAMMER/ANALYST: CQ Press seeks a programmer/analyst with good multi-tasking skills to support online product and systems development. Will develop Microsoft SQL databases and other software applications to sustain XML/HTML web publishing environment; maintain existing databases and applications (e.g., SQL, .Net Framework, XML); develop databases and applications for new products. Will develop and implement technical specifications for new products and enhancements to existing products, troubleshoot existing applications, and participate in the deployment of systems developed with outside resources. epdjobs@cqpress.com

PROJECT MANAGER/BUSINESS ANALYST: CQ Press seeks a full-time Project Manager to help manage the development and support of subscription web-based Internet sites and other electronic products as well as internal content management systems. This project manager will be responsible for the life cycle of new products and systems and will support and enhance existing products and the systems that feed them, including determining schedules, defining functionality, preparing requirements, coordinating resources, and managing costs.

Experience Required:

  • At least five years experience developing commercial electronic products and/or marketing web sites, preferably in the publishing industry, including extensive experience in carrying out the kinds of responsibilities identified below.
  • Knowledge of and experience with electronic and print publishing environment, including database publishing
  • Experience with managing the development and/or support of back-end production systems and workflows
  • Solid familiarity with web and data publishing tools, especially XML and HTML and Microsoft databases (SQL/Access).
  • Technical project management experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience .

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Project management of new product development and other projects through the project lifecycle (ranging from one month to one year), including writing and coordinating requirements with business units, planning and implementing schedules and budgets, harmonizing critical paths for multiple projects, and adhering to timetables, requirements, and budgets.
  • Project management of existing websites and production systems, including coordinating maintenance efforts, customer support, and enhancement requests.
  • Managing business and development relationships with internal units and outside contractors.
  • Designing production environments and workflows, and assisting in integrating products within an overall electronic publishing framework.
  • Preparing requirements and technical specification documents, customer documentation, status reports, and internal support documentation.
  • Analyzing data and designing data structures (HTML, XML, and database), including overseeing conversion and extractions.

Specific Skills:

SALES ADMINISTRATION COORDINATOR: CQ Press has an immediate opening for a sales administration coordinator. This position’s main responsibilities will include assisting the CQ Press Reference sales staff with lead generation, list management, free trial coordination and customer follow-up. The position will require proficiency with the sales tracking software, the fulfillment software and the Web based products admin software. Also, this position will assist the sales staff in a variety of administrative tasks including conference preparation, sales tracking and commission reporting, preparation of contracts and customer orders, and customer calls. Position will require good customer services skills, computer skills (Excel, Word) and excellent organization and time management skills.
