In this much-anticipated revision of Pollock’s popular SPSS workbook, students dive headfirst into actual political data and work with a software tool that prepares them for future political science research. Students learn by doing with guided examples, more than 120 screenshots, and step-bystep instructions.
Compatible with all releases of SPSS (12.0 through 19.0, as well as the student version), the new fourth edition includes brand-new or completely revised exercises. Two new datasets (2008 NES and 2008 GSS) and two revised datasets (on the 50 states and on 191 countries of the world) feature an expanded number of variables to provide greater latitude for performing original analysis.

Testimonials
"This workbook is exactly what I had wanted for the course. One important strength of this text is the step-by-step explanation for all of the procedures in SPSS along with the illustrations of the different screens. The text also has the right amount of explanation of statistics accompanying the various tasks, so the students understand the analytical processes that go with the exercises."
- Holly Brasher, University of Alabama at Birmingham"Pollock’s
Companion is perfect for the way I teach statistics to undergraduates. I want them to understand how you use certain tests, why you use those tests, and how to interpret results. This book works perfectly for that. Honestly, using it makes teaching a class like research methods much easier. The students seem to like the book very much. . . . Here is the greatest compliment I can give this book: I was trained using STATA and used STATA throughout my career. When I took a new job, the university only had SPSS licenses; they did not have any STATA licenses. I had never before used SPSS. So, not only did Pollock teach my students how to use SPSS, it taught me how to use the program."
- Matthew Streb, Northern Illinois University
